UNCOMMONLY USED FILIPINO WORDS
WHAT ARE THE UNCOMMONLY USED FILIPINO WORDS?
They are the words which are not often found , seen or heard. They are not ordinary, remarkable or exceptional and only used at certain times.
What are some examples?
1. SALUMPUWIT (Upuan/ Chair)
- a seat for one person that has a back and usually four legs.
Example Sentence:
Gumamit ka ng salumpuwit para makaupo ka ng maayos
Kumuha ka ng salumpuwit doon sa loob at uupo ako dito sa labas.
2. Balintataw ( Pupil of the eye)
-the contractile aperture in the iris of the eye
Example Sentence:
Ang kaniyang maga balintataw ay lumilitaw tuwing nasisisinagan ng liwanag
3. Tampalasan (Traydor/ traitor)
- person who betrays a friend, country, principle and etc.
Example Sentence:
Huwag kang magkakamaling lumapit muli sa kaibigan mong tampalasan.
4. Katipan (kasintahan/ boyfriend or girlfriend)
- love is an emotion often involved
Example Sentence:
Silang dalawang mag-katipan ay pinagisa ng Diyos.
Si Eva ay katipan ni Adan
5. Salipawpaw (Eroplano/ Airplane)
- is a powered, fixed wing aircraft that is propelled forward by thrust from a jet engine or propeller
Example Sentence:
Nakakita ako kaninang umaga ng malaking salipawpaw sa langit
.
6. Silakbo (bugso ng damdamin)
-emotional outburst
Example Sentene:
Ang silakbong damdamin ni Julia ay narinig ng buong bahay ng siya ay nakatagpo ng ipis sa loob ng banyo.
7. Anluwage (karpentero/ carpenter)
-a person whose job is to make or fix wooden objects or wooden parts of buildings.
Example Sentence:
Si Jesus nang kaniyang panahon ay isang anluwage tulad ng kaniyang amang si Jose.
8. Duyog ( eclipse)
-an occasion when the sun looks like it is completely or partially covered with a dark circle because the moon is between the sun and the Earth.
Example Sentence:
Nagkaroon ng duyog noong isang araw, at dahil dito dumilim ang kalangitan
9. Miktinig (mikropono/microphone)
- a device into which people speak or sing in order to record their voices or to make them sound louder.
Example Sentence:
Ang mga komendyante ay mahilig gumamit ng miktinig sa tuwing sila’y nagtatanghal.
10. Sulatroniko ( Email)
- A system for sending messages from one computer to another
Example Sentence:
Ako ay magpapasa ng aking sulat para sa guro gamit ang sulatroniko.
